I had the aperature at f/5.6 and shutter speed at 1/80 to create a shallow depth of field. Creating the right focal distance was hard as the camera didn't want to focus on the flower with the amount of light coming in through the window.
For my artist I picked Victor Schrager. I liked his "composition as explination" work, though it was more for the colors and lighting than it was for the depth of field. It was a great mix between natural and artificial, and if it was mostly artifical it made it look natural.
