Salzburg Cathedral

Built from 1614 to 1628, it's 330 feet long and 230 feet tal. It was built with sturdy pillows and broad arches. One of the first Italian Baroque buildings north of the Alps

As you made your way slowly up the nave, you were drawn toward the light. Imagine being part of a sacred procession, passing from relatively dim entrance to the bright altar with its painting of Christ's resurrection, bathed in light from the dome overhead. The church never had stained glass, just clear windows to let light power the massage. - Rick Steves
