For my assignment, I choose to emulate photographer Julia Margaret Cameron as I'm fond of her soft and dreamy style. She would use a plain background, soft focus, and her subjects were shot close-up In my image, I took a portrait of my sister and used our blank bedroom door as our plain background similar to what Cameron would use in her portraits. Her photos also were shot in soft focus and which made the images feel dreamy. I achieved this look by putting a pair of sheer tights on my camera lens which made the photo look more blurry and soft. Also, I used a ring light to add some soft lighting to her face as Cameron's images were shot close up to highlight the features of her subject so I I wanted to make sure that my sister's face was the focal point. My sister's pose was inspired from the poses that Cameron used in her images as a few of her subjects placed their hands on their chest and I had my sister do the same pose. Lastly, I didn't have my sister smile in the pictures as the subjects of Cameron showed deep emotion in their photos and rarely smiled. I emulate her style by using a pair of sheer tights to create a soft dreamy look, using a plain background to not distract from the subject, similar pose and facial expression, and taking a close-up to highlight my sister's features and making her the focal point just like the subjects in Cameron's photos.
