Avanti West Coast 390119
Seen sat on Platform 5 in Preston stabled overnight, is Avanti West Coast 390119, named “Progress.” This is one of just 2 special livery Class 390 Pendolino’s that Avanti West Coast operates, and this one represents the LGBT community. This is the first train from the Trainbow LGBT Marketing Campaign to be covered from end-to-end in Pride colours, having been unveiled in 2020.
Usually, this train runs ECS to Longsight depot in Manchester after arriving from London Euston, but usually, this doesn’t happen, due to one of the drivers for Avanti West Coast being based in Preston. Stabling the Pendolino in Preston means that the driver can start his shift immediately, instead of having to travel all the way to Manchester to then take the train on yet another ECS movement to then start it’s first service of the day.
