SE-COII ¦ BMA 15.07.1983
Convair CV.440-75 (c/n 320)
Bromma Brand och Räddningstjänsten
Stockholm-Bromma (BMA/ESSB)
15 July 1983
This Convair 440 served as a training airframe for the Bromma Fire- and Rescue Service, and was permanently withdrawn from use on the Southern part of the airfield. Painted as "SE-COII" and sporting small Brand o Räddningstjänsten titles, it was seen at Bromma, with a hastily overpainted ex-Linijeflyg cheatline, and minus its engines and props.
The Convair was originally built for SAS as LN-KLB in 1956, and acquired by Bromma-based Linjeflyg as SE-CCX in November 1968. In November 1977 it was retired and handed over to the Fire- and Rescue Service.
SE-COII was subject to be scrapped in the late eighties, but a group of enthusiasts saved it from the scrap dealer for preservation, altough several preservation projetcs failed, and the Convair today is still sitting at the South side in Bromma, now painted as SE-CCX again, and having the red cheatline removed to reveal the original blue Linjeflyg livery.
