0619 ¦ FFD 07.1995

Mikoyan MiG-29A (Fulcrum-A) (c/n 2960535406/4713)

Vzdušné Sily Armády Slovenskej Republiky

RAF Fairford (FFD/EGVA)

July 1995

Between 1989 and 1990, Czechoslovakia received a total of 20 MiG-29s, of which 16 were MiG-29As and four were MiG-29UBs. Upon the split of Czechoslovakia into Czechia and Slovakia in 1993, twelve MiG-29s were assigned to the Air Forces of the Army of the Slovak Republic, or Slovak Air Force, consisting of 9 MiG-29As and 3 MiG-29UBs. The NATO designation of the type was "Fulcrum".

Included in the transfer was Fulcrum-A serial 0619, which was operated by 1SLP (1. Stíhací Letecký Pluk - 1st Fighter Air Regiment) from Sliač Air Base in central Slovakia, and was chosen to participate in the 1995 RIAT at RAF Fairford. 0619 was subsequently seen arriving at Fairford, doing a classic Fulcrum landing with drag chute.

When Slovakia restructured from Soviet-style lines to NATO lines, 1SLP became 1SL (1. Stíhacia Letka - 1st Fighter Squadron), and most of the MiG-29As became MiG-29AS in the mid-2000s, receiving a Slovak-specific modernization. The Fulcrums remained in service until 2022, when the type was struck off charge and replaced by F-16s.

In 2023 serial 0619 became part of Slovakia's donation package to Ukraine, which included the entire Fulcrum fleet. Its new Ukrainian serial and its fate are currently unknown.
