Built for Eastern Air Lines in 1959 and delivered in August that year, this Electra was eventually one of three Eastern aircraft joining Lineas Aéreas Paraguayas in the late sixties.
Now registered as ZP-CBZ, it was seen parket at Asunción, showing an immaculate condition given the fact that the aircraft was already over 30 years old at that time, and in service with LAP for over 22 years.
ZP-CBZ was sold to Zaire in 1994, becoming 9Q-CRR with Trans Service Airlift. In December 1995, the aircraft departed Kinshasa grossly overloaded with 144 occupants, and eventually crashed in the Luanda Norte area of Angola after the pilot lost control. Normal seating for the L.188C typically was 98 in high-density configuration.
