P2-ANA ¦ MNL 20.03.1989

Airbus A.310-324 (c/n 378)

Air Niugini

Manila-Ninoy Aquino International (MNL/RPLL)

20 March 1989

This airframe was the prototype of the A.310-300 series, and first flew in 1985 as a series -322. It stayed with Airbus as a testbed, was converted to a series -324 in 1986, and eventually delivered to Air Niugini in early 1989.

Registered as A2-ANA and named "City of Port Moresby", after the capital of Papua New Guinea, it was captured from Terminal 1 during taxi to its stand after landing on runway 24.

P2-ANA was leased out a couple of times, but basically stayed with Air Niugini until 2002, when it was sold to the USA, converted to a freighter, and eventually entered service with Federal Express in 2004. It was retired in 2018 and stored at Victorville, where recent images show it to be still there, now as a spares source.
