CCCP-76467 ¦ ZRH 01.07.1984

Ilyushin IL-76TD (c/n 0023440157/29-10)

Aeroflot

Zürich-Kloten (ZRH/LSZH)

01 July 1984

Out of almost 1,000 IL76s built, Soviet-era Aeroflot operated some 50 examples of the rugged transporter on cargo services. The TD-variant was an improved version of the IL-76T (T for civil transport), which first flew in 1982. Powered by four Soloviev D-30 turbofan engines, the aircraft quite closely resembles the Lockheed C-141A Starlifter.

CCCP-76467 was one of many TD models in Aeroflot service, and became a regular at Zürich on the weekly Air India cargo service that Aeroflot operated for the Indian flag carrier for a while. Delivered in September 1982, it was seen on finals to runway 14, showing full soviet-era Aeroflot livery. There were no traces whatsoever of Air India, as this service was operated by a variety of airframes.

CCCP-76467 became RA-76467 with Aeroflot in 1992, and was last reported as stored at Moscow-Sheremetyevo in 2002, officially retired in 2003 as life-time expired, cancelled in 2004 and broken-up the same year.
