Rather little is known about the early history of this Antonov 12, except that it was built for the Soviet Air Force, presumably in the sixties, and inherited by the Ukrainian Air Force in 1993.
Sometime after that it was acquired by Kiev-based Volare Airlines and seen upon a rare visit to Zurich, holding short of runway 28 for departure while running up its four Ivchenko AI-20Ms.
Volare operated between 1994 and 2009, and the registration of UR-SMA was cancelled in 2010. The whereabouts of this aircraft are currently unknown.
