As a child, I was fascinated by the illustrations of Yuri Vasnetsov. They were tasteful and intricate despite their simplified forms, making them accessible to a child. When my child wrote this story, it sounded so much like a folk fairy tale. I tried to draw in a style that would fit into Vasnetsov's world as much as this fairy tale fit into folklore.
