PCMC International Overdose Awareness Day 2025
Members of the New Jersey National Guard Counterdrug Task Force assisted the Prevention Coalition of Monmouth County place purple flags in observance of International Overdose Awareness Day across participating locations in Monmouth County, August 5-7, 2025 in townships across Monmouth County.
Every year on August 31st, International Overdose Awareness Day brings a global community together to recognize the overdoses that take place in our communities. The purple flag display is an event that PCMC has held since 2020 to pay homage to the lives lost to overdose in the first quarter of the year in Monmouth county.
In 2024, PCMC had 52 towns participate in displaying 27 purple flags across the county. This year, showed a significant decrease in overdoses for the first quarter in Monmouth county with 13 purple flags being displayed across 52 out of 54 towns in the county.
