Almere castle, a modern day ruin

Construction started in 2000 and stopped in 2002. Over the years it's had multiple owners, and there've been plans to finish the castle and turn it into anything from a hotel to the centrepiece of a university campus, and from a convention center, to a witch-based themepark.

 

Today, though, it remains a modern day concrete ruin.
