A Consideration of Lagos State Response to SGBV in the Last Decade
by IDEA-NG
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has reiterated its commitment to combating sexual violence in the state, with a renewed focus on prevention. This pledge was made during a symposium organized to review the state’s efforts over the past decade in addressing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
The symposium, supported by RoLAC, funded by the EU and implemented by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), provided a platform for stakeholders to assess the progress made, identify existing gaps, and develop strategies for enhancing SGBV prevention and response mechanisms.
Over the past ten years, the DSVA has played a pivotal role in coordinating responses to SGBV cases, raising awareness, and supporting survivors. The agency’s commitment to prevention, underscored at the symposium, reflects a strategic shift towards proactive measures aimed at reducing the incidence of SGBV in Lagos State.
