Autumn Reflections

When I set out to photograph autumn in the mountains, the best I could say was that the weather was moody. Storm clouds had been predicted to move through the area, so I was not sure of the conditions or light. But I knew that if I stayed back and not gone out, my image results would be zero. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. When I first arrived at this location, the sky was fully clouded over and the trees and mountains not well lit. I set up and decided to wait and see what would develop trusting my weather app which showed approaching breaks in the clouds. In landscape and wildlife photography, patience is a virtue. After about an hour of sitting leaning against a tree and enjoying the area, patches of blue sky started to appear that began to highlight different parts of the landscape bringing out the fall colors and intensifying the reflections in the lake. Over time, I took a series of images with the light hitting different parts of the scene. I liked this one the best.
