Elephant Roadblock

Whether on the open savannah or paved road in Africa, elephants always have the right-of-way. Unless they decide otherwise. From a fair distance away, this elephant had decided to take a casual walk to somewhere. Wherever it was, it was a path that put me and my large game-drive vehicle on a direct line between the elephant and where it wished to go. With the ideal lighting and scenery, I and my driver just sat and waited to see what would develop and for me to photograph the approach while sitting in a seat on the hood of our vehicle. This image was taken just before it stopped as we were in its way. Which one of us was the roadblock? We could not move forward any more than the elephant could. For what seemed like an eternity to me (about 8-10 minutes), it watched us while we watched him. Waiting for us to move? Its approach had been non-aggressive which reduced our worrying, so we continued to wait it out. It finally decided we must be an unmovable object and just walked around us, got back on its line of travel and walked on. We were then free to start the engine and go our own way. Close encounters of the elephant kind?
