Project 12_documentary-conclusion_5_Bragg

For my conclusion image, I chose to shoot all of the cookies on the pan. I chose to place the pan in the oven to give the image a sense of place. I also intentionally took the image at an angle so that the pan would look bigger and take up more of the frame. Duchemin in lesson 40 said, “Subtly sharpening or blurring elements creates either a push or a pull on the eye. The same goes for dodging and burning, or even changes in the crop”. So I used a Gaussian blur to further blur out the background and used the dodge/burn tools to pull the eye towards the cookies on the pan. The eye is drawn into the photo because of the dodging/burning, positioning, and angle the photo was taken. I used a levels layer to darken the blacks and remove the yellow haze on the photo, and desaturated the background with a vibrancy layer to further remove the yellow tint on the photo. I increased brightness and contrast with a brightness/contrast layer and used the spot healing brush to remove some of the cookie crumbs on the pan. In camera raw, I added a vignette. I added even more blue tones with a color balance layer and used the remove tool to get rid of some distracting elements in the background. Then I used the dodge and burn tools to bring more attention to the pan and cookies. Lastly, I used a Gaussian blur to blur the background a bit more.
