Helix Nebula
06/10/2024 - Helix Nebula C63
This is my first ever attempt at a planetary nebula which went pretty well in my opinion. This is the longest exposure I've taken for any single image, at which point my camera's battery died and I had to cut it short (as well as some clouds rolling in). I do think though that the ISO setting I used for this image was too low, so I'll keep that in mind for next time. Also notice the star in the direct middle of the nebula. That is a white dwarf, a dead star that caused this show of lights during its death which is largely what our star will do and end up like in the next few billion years or so.
INFO:
Exposure time: 2h 38m (158x60s)
ISO: 320
Aperture: f/4.9
Camera: Nikon D850
Mount: SkyWatcher HEQ5-Pro
Telescope: William Optics Redcat 71 WIFD
