FOTO 2994 iPhone Project 8

I originally tried to take portraits of both my dad and myself, but I felt as though I was getting better shots when I wasn’t the subject. For this project I edited all my photos in color first. Then I gave each photo a black and white copy and picked the photos that looked the best in color or black and white. A challenge I faced was making sure there was not a lot of negative space. Artistically I really enjoy negative space in the photos I take, but I had to remind myself that portraits don’t contain large amounts of negative space. I tried practicing portraits by taking and editing photos that look more traditional, but I added one that is edited non-traditionally. I felt like the editing for that photo went more with my subject’s mood.
