One of The Last (mid fifties Cadillac)
Arguably, some of the most beautiful cars that Detroit produced came from the period between the mid fifties to the mid sixties. And, with it's gorgeous and sensuous flowing lines trimmed in bright stainless steel and chrome, this beautiful mid-fifties Cadillac 4 door hardtop is an elegant example of that. And, in my opinion, that sadly ended in and by the mid-sixties, and has never been quite the same since. I truly believe it was the last great decade (+) for Detroit and the US auto industry. Cars were true works of art then, and a final continuance of the art of the automobile from the decades that had preceded it. And like the flowers, where have all the beautiful cars gone...the Ford Thunderbirds, the Cadillac Broughams and Eldorado's, the Buick Rivieras and Wildcats, the Chrysler Imperials, the Pontiac Grand Prix's....gone to design graveyards all!
