Lonely House - Georgetown Ohio

An image captured while out exploring the southern Ohio countryside on a bleak winter day.

In rural Ohio, It's not uncommon to find yourself driving past a working farmstead and notice a peculiar situation – a scene where all the pieces just do not seem to fit... While the barns and out buildings on the farm are kept in good working order, and the farms fencing is kept taut and in good shape... even though there are healthy moo cows out mooing in the pasture – something seems amiss.

The oddness is that the structure that must have been the original family homestead on the farm has now been abandoned... just left to decay and fall to the ground. Often, there will be a new home built just a few yards away... but the old home is left to crumble away on its own.

I always wonder what happened that things wound up this way. Was the homestead a victim of termites? Bad plumbing? Was an evil banker involved? It's aways a mystery.
