Sunset at Clingmans Dome (Great Smoky Mountains National Park)

An image taken just a few moments after the sun had disappeared below the horizon at Clingmans Dome.

This location is well known amongst sunset photographers visiting the park, and for good reason. On this day, I managed to get where I needed to be early (a rare thing for me) and get set up before the crowd gathered... lots of photographers, with lots of tripods squeezed into the limited space available.

It seems like it takes a while, but when the sun finally does make it's move, it drops quick, and it's all over in just a few minutes.
