Snow Curve

I needed a helper to take this image… but I couldn’t find one. Turns out, it’s hard to assemble a photography team when the mission calls for loading up and heading out to the middle of nowhere, at dusk, with the temperatures below freezing.

So in lieu of a helper, I loaded up my five foot step ladder (which I nicknamed Tippy), and headed off into the Ohio tundra.

On location I set up Tippy, and strapped the tripod in place up high, so that the camera was about eight feet in the air. I tripped the shutter, and then did my own stunt driving, motoring my truck up and down the road a few times to get the light trails I wanted.

I got one take I liked, and then it was dark and bitterly cold. I loaded up Tippy and the gear, and headed home - sporting some slightly numb fingers and toes.
