Isle of the Dead

This Island was part of the Port Arthur Penal Settlement in Tasmania and was known as the Isle of the Dead because it was where the dead convicts and soldiers were buried. The prisoners were buried on the lower levels and the guards, soldiers and administrators on the higher levels.
