Dreams

Oh Dreams.. you have always

Caught me off guard

Guided my every day

And, challenged my future

 

There are times I dream

And, inside of those dreams

I lose myself chasing things

That were never mine to dream

 

Other times, I am caught

Off guard by things that I never knew

That I needed and wanted so bad

 

Changes are coming so fast

How do I know what is and what is not

A dream that I should dream for me

A possibility... of so many things

 

Should I let the world in

And embrace all that my nights hold

Do I allow feelings to come rushing to the surface

And, chase those dreams to the end

 

Or do I wait and dream on my own

Chasing the shadows of yesterday

Facing the moment I am in

Stuck in the memories of pain

 

Dreams you come to me without warning

You make me want and need to my core

And, you embrace me in comfort

In ways that I never knew I could

 

I close my eyes beckoning you to guide me

Push me hard in the directions that are best

That will calm the storms

and bring me to my knees

 

Happiness, love, gentleness, compassion

Oh dreams do not lead me astray

Help me, guide me, and shape me

My dreams...delicious in their calling

 

Dreams oh Dreams...

Where shall we go today..

Bites my lip

And, closes my eyes once more...

 

Take me away and allow me freedom

Show me what my future can hold

And, then move me through the safety

Of our moments...lost in the dark...
