TIE/sk x1 - Coruscant Air Guard
In the waning years of the Galactic Civil War, the Coruscant Guard adopted the TIE/sk x1 "Striker" as its principal air superiority fighter, replacing the ageing V-wing fleet which had provided in-atmosphere defense since the Republic era.
Prior to 2 ABY, the TIE/sk was rarely seen outside of military installations that catered to experimental craft. While the standard TIE platform handled adequately in atmospheric environments, the Striker airframe had an edge in maneuverability that was ideal for navigating Coruscant's dense architecture and crowded skylanes. The Air Guard fitted their variant with precision weapons and under-wing guided missiles to minimize collateral damage. The Coruscant Guard was one of the few elements of the Empire to widely adopt the Striker.
The TIE Striker was maintained for rapid deployment at surface airbases and the orbital Golan defense stations that surrounded the planet, although saw little combat until Coruscant's own civil war in 4 ABY.
