Disability Federation of Ireland
Make Way Day 2023 Launch on 21 September
MakeWayDay Launch. 21.9.2023
MakeWayDay is a campaign that brings the disability and wider community together to consider the needs of people with disabilities in the public spaces we all share. It takes place on Friday the 22nd September. It is led by the Disability Federation of Ireland and is a unique collaboration across Ireland and the voluntary and local government sectors. DFI will also be partnering with An Garda Siochana again this year. They will be running Operation Enable across the country on MakeWayDay. People with disabilities will be out on 22nd September to highlight obstacles such as cars/vans parked on footpaths, bicycles/motorbikes chained to lamp posts creating a trip hazard for visually impaired people. Pic shows l-r John Dolan (CEO Disability Federation of Ireland), Garda Seamus Fitzgerald (Roads policing), Carolyn Akintola (Disability Activist), Inspector Peter Woods (Roads Policing) and Gary Kearney (Disability Activist) with a Garda car, motorbike and Dublin City Council road sweeper who are supporting the day at the photocall held in Dublin on Thursday. Pic John Mc Elroy. NO REPRO FEE. Further Info: Brenda Drumm 086-0764114 brendadrumm@disability-federation.ie
