Skylark with Leather Jackets.

I have spent some time up in the hills this year and enjoyed it immensely. I managed to grab a shot of this Skylark when it flew over to me whilst I was having a sandwich. It was calling softly, with a beak full of Leather Jackets (Crane Fly larvae) looking to find and feed it’s fledglings hiding in the heather. Skylarks will not fly straight in to the nest or to their young. They land a few metres away and walk through the cover to avoid giving away the location to predators.

Thank you for having a look at my photos. Comments or faves are very welcome and much appreciated.
