Bank Vole

Being only half grown this young Bank Vole living in a stick pile was tiny. It was so cautious and alert and moved incredibly quickly. Not surprising though, because it has so many predators. Voles are a major food source for owls, raptors, foxes, weasels and the list goes on.

Because of this they are able to breed four times per year with about four young in each litter. In less than two months these young are able to produce their own litters.

I think they are beautiful little animals.
