FCA2 Austin Mason was frocked to the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class during a ceremony July 2 at Naval Support Facility (NSF) Indian Head. Mason provides outstanding support to Naval Support Activity South Potomac as counter UAS Sailor, protecting Navy lives and property. Mason’s wife, Kayla, placed the new insignia on his uniform.

“The Navy is going to expect a whole lot more of you, and that’s a good thing,” said Cmdr. Bob Lusk, executive officer of NSASP. “Congratulations, you’ve earned this.”

Ten Sailors from NSASP received letters of appreciation for their support of the Operation MWR Concert Series in May. YN2 Rachel Cervantes, CS2 Joshua Fairley, FCA1 Mason, OS2 George McCaulley, CS2 Kevin O’Mally Jr., CS2 Marshall Peters, YN2 Keenith Reed, OS2 Lane Taylor, CS2 Yusef Montagueo, and ABE1 Brandon Martinson provided critical support to the concert events.

“This was a serious muscle movement,” said Lusk. “We had to step up and you did it without complaint and you made it happen. I truly appreciate it.”

Congratulations, FCA1 Mason and family, and to all who were recognized.
