Utility

WW2 prevented UK from importing lumber for furniture making. The government stepped in with the Utility Scheme which prescribed design and construction principles to minimize material use while maintaining functionality.

These pieces, made from wooden laminated are examples, sold in Glasgow.

'Utility' was stamped on the underside. I grew up with this stuff and love it still. Anyone thinking 'Ikea'?!
