Piwakawaka

The New Zealand Fantail, or Piwakawaka. They have very distinctive movement when they flick their tails, which make you think of the stylised movements of the warrior who approaches manuhiri (visitors) to the marae as part of the challenge.

I found these lovely coasters in a local charity shop. Like me, far from home. We'll keep one-another company.
