Laney Days
❤️Valinor at Twilight❤️
The day's last breath, a sigh of gold,
Upon this terrace to the sky,
A story in the clouds is told,
As on this outdoor bed I lie.
The sun dissolves in crimson streams,
The air grows cool, the light grows thin,
And rising from the world of dreams,
The stars of memory begin.
My gaze lifts past the violet bar,
To find the sight my heart knows best,
A single, incandescent star—
More real and radiant than the rest.
That sphere of pearl, that sapphire gleam,
That swirl of silver and of white,
A half-remembered, waking dream,
That dominates the coming night.
That beacon is my Valinor,
A jewel in the velvet dark,
The home I ache and hunger for,
My spirit's anchor, and its mark.
So let the alien twilight fall,
I have my peace, a world away,
For I can see and still recall
The shores of my own endless day.
