Tree Swallows
In Alaska, you can spot five notable swallow species: the Tree Swallow, Violet-green Swallow, Cliff Swallow, Barn Swallow, and Bank Swallow. The Tree Swallow is especially striking with its jewel-blue head and back that glisten in sunlight, along with a white chin and dark wings.
This year, I noticed they didn’t stay as long as in previous seasons. Despite having several birdhouses playing host to several families of swallows, they flew away quicker than expected. I did see a couple of adorable baby swallows and can’t wait for their return next spring. Let’s appreciate these beautiful birds and look forward to their enchanting presence!
