Another Smart & Final with an interesting mix of other Supermarket operators before it took over.
This store first was opened as a Lucky in 1982. This is a relocation from a former Scolari's that Lucky bought down the street on East Grand Ave, after they bought their initial chain of stores on the Central Coast in 1979 (The Scolari family later revived the chain in the area, until all stores in the area shuttered in 2012). This specific building opened with a Lucky format.
When Lucky and Albertsons merged in 1999, this store like other Lucky's was rebranded as Albertsons until Albertsons closed this location in 2005.
Spencer's Fresh Markets, a once 5-store chain in the area, acquired this store shortly after Albertsons, but it only lasted until 2012, when it eventually closed 3 of its 5 stores. The other 2 Spencer's remain open today. Smart & Final quickly swooped up this location after Spencer's closure, opening under its "Extra!" format at the end of 2012.
Like many other Smart & Final's, this store not have any service departments, however, there are some area's where it was evident there were service departments at one point from when this store was a Lucky.
