"Beatus Giovannino"

Blessed Giovannino Costa was a shepherd, and on Saturday 2 April 1468 he was returning from Tortona, where he had gone to sell eggs and butter. Arriving in the Scorticavacca area, he was killed by ‘infidels’. The boy was found some time later, while around him stood his flock of sheep, kneeling as if weeping over the death of his keeper.
