Description - I took this shot of precious stone to showcase the value of interconnection between tourism & gemology . This is a burnished Green Sapphire gem stone. Sapphire is very unique to Sri Lanka because mostly can be found in Sri Lanka rather than other countries. Sapphire is expensive in the world gem market because it has highest rigidity after diamonds. There is a high demand on Sri Lankan sapphire in the world gem market. Therefore, supphire has shown an excellent way to build Sri Lanka well in advanced. Tourists from United States, Europe & Canada come to Sri Lanka because of Sapphire.
