The Church of St. John Chrysostom in Yalta, Crimea, Russia.

The very first and oldest cathedral in Yalta is surrounded by a small park on Polikurovsky Hill in the city center, and is well viewed from the sea. Because of this, it was even at one time a landmark for passing ships.

The history of the temple began on September 16, 1837 with its consecration. In 1878, due to the massive construction of the city and the increase in the number of parishioners, the temple was rebuilt and enlarged. The notorious genius architect N.P. Krasnov was also involved in the construction work, who in 1898 built a church school located next to the temple and the nearby Chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

Today it is a functioning Orthodox church with its own Sunday school.
