Regular Corpse Removal squads were on call in the streets of Calcutta. Famine conditions created by British occupation increased the toll which was so high that the dead often had to wait for hours to be removed from the streets, checked in at the police station then taken to the ghats for burning. 12/17/1943-Calcutta, India:
