Flashback Friday
In April 1978, Illinois Central Gulf 8164 & 5050 and GM&O 630 are seen with a string of boxcars in tow. Two fresh-looking Chessie system boxcars and an eight door 86' Grand Trunk boxcar trail behind the power as they pass a partially snow-covered field.
The 8164, a GP10, was eventually sold to the US Army and renumbered to 1872. 5050, a GE U33C, was scrapped in mid-1984. GM&O 630, a GP35, made its way to the Paducah & Louisville Railway and was eventually scrapped in 1996.
Unknown photographer or location, Greg Kozlick collection.
