Hedda Murray
Red rumped parrot
male Red rumped parrot (aka the grass parrot).
When it's in grass it's remarkably camouflaged, often only seen when it flies away. I only saw this bird when it dashed from the grassy edge of the shore to this stump poking up from the water about 4 metres into the lake, despite my having been standing quite near to it for around 5 minute. I had been watching some waterbirds in the distance.
The red refers to a small stripe of red feathers on the bird's lower back, just visible as a flash between it's closed wings. Only the tiniest hint is visible in this shot.
