Homer City power plant.

Homer City Generating Station, a now decommissioned 2-GW coal-burning power station located in Homer City, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. and created by the Pennsylvania Electric Co. (PenElec). Homer City Generating Station began operation in 1969, powering Units 1 and 2, providing 660 MWe each. Unit 3 powered into operation in 1977, at a slightly higher 692 MWe. the site is 2,400 acres of land, and occupies the 1,800-acre Two Lick Reservoir. Homer City Generating Station was shut down to provide the state of Pennsylvania with cleaner emissions. this plant emitted 13,745,174 tons of CO2, ranking it the 33rd largest contributor in the U.S, and In 2003 (Environment Maine Research and Policy Center) states Homer City Generating Station produced 665 pounds (302 kg) of mercury air pollution. Homer City Generating Station was ranked the nation's sixth highest SO2 polluter, discharging 119,771 pounds (54.327 metric tons) of SO2 in 2005.
