Carefully trying to walk on water (Common ringed plover | Sandregenpfeifer | Pluvier grand-gravelot)

Alternative title: when you are too close to fit the reflection, focus on the bird ;-) Common ringed plovers breed mostly north of the Northern Sea and in Russia, with breeding sites ranging from North East Canada all the way to Russia’s far East. But some of these birds still nests on the southern shores of the Northern and the Baltic Seas. Unfortunately, this species is expected to lose a lot of breeding grounds due to global warming, with the RSPB estimating that about two thirds of the original breeding grounds will no longer provide a suitable habitat at the end of the 21st century. In Germany less than 1000 couples of this species are estimated to breed every year.
