As we make our way out onto the main road, where I'm able to knock the speed up, I can feel Mira's grip around my waist tighten. Smiling to myself, I know she is behind me shitting bricks. But if this girl wants to get out of the city alive, she WILL do it my way. The roads are already filled with traffic, that broadcast must have done it's job because it looks like everyone is heading in the same direction... OUT! But the more cars we pass, the more infected we are seeing too. They seem to be taking over the place. Which seems oddly shocking to me. From what I've seen these things are killing everything they get their grip of, so then how is it there seems to be more of them. Thoughts and questions for later. I can't think about that right now. The roads are too busy and we are going far too fast for me to not be paying attention to what I'm doing.

From behind me I just about make out Mira's scream, "TIFFANY DODGE RIGHT NOW!!" Without thinking I act, swerving the Devil to the right, just in time to miss an on coming car spinning to our left, There's an infected actually in the windscreen attacking the driver, I say attacking, it looked more like it was already eating the poor person trying to escape the city. That was a close call. With a sharp tug on the handles I straighten us out and give a little shrug of my shoulder to thank Mira. Maybe she's not so useless after all.

We're back to making good speed now. Dodging in and out of cars like I'm on a track, determined to get the hell out of here. I can see the road I need to get up to the highway is packed. Even on the Devil there's no way I could make it through there. And there's no way in hell I'm becoming a sitting duck. Ok I need to think this through, So I find what looks like a quiet parking lot and pull in. Hitting the breaks to pull us to a stop, I turn back to look at Mira. "Thanks for that, I didn't even see that car spinning." She gives me her 'no shit you didn't' stare and a simple "You're welcome." I shrug her attitude off, there's no time for it right now. Now we need a plan and fast, I don't want to stay here any longer than I have too. "The highway, it's too blocked for me to get the Devil through, and I'm sure you don't want to be sitting around for what could be hours anymore than I do. We need another way out. I don't want to turn around and try getting out that way, I told Jim we would look for him up this way." Pausing for a moment and watching her face more closely now before I continue, "Mira you know this place better than I do, I need your help now. Remember when you'd do a job, you always managed to get away from the cops, or anyone else that was hot on your heels. Mira you need to tell me how the fuck to get us out of here." Great, I almost sound like I'm begging for her help. But she IS in this with me, it's the least she can do if she wants me to keep her alive. I see her thinking, the look on her face tells me she's more rattling her brains as to who I am, more than she is thinking of getting us out of here. "MIRA! NOW!" I snap at her, trying to get her out of her own head. She looks around, I assume to get her bearings, before turning back to me. "Oh yes! Arklay Pass, it's not far from here. I think take a right just before the highway, that should lead us right too it. But Tiffany, it use to be a really rough road, which is why I always used it, not a lot of people are willing to fuck their cars up on there."

Thinking for a moment, I've heard of the road but never drove on it. We don't have a choice though. My Devil can handle just about anything I throw at it, hopefully it can handle this. "Ok, that will do thanks." I say to her before turning around. In front of me there is a couple of infected making their way over to us. I hadn't heard them coming. "Fuck, hold tight!" I tell Mira as I'm bringing the Devil back to life and tearing our way out of that parking lot. We fly right by the side of the infected, luckily too fast for them to touch us. Another close call, I need to be more alert than this, what is wrong with me??

A little ways ahead of us, I can just see the turning Mira told me to take, looks like there's already a lot of people who had the same idea. Doesn't matter, if that's our way out, then that's the way we're going. I put the bike into 6th and rev him, "That's it, purr for mama." I chuckle to myself as I start to swerve us between cars again. A tanker coming towards us catches my attention. Why is it coming into town? Are they going to burn this place to the ground? So many questions, so much fear hitting me in one go.

Then, as if from nowhere, a car comes skidding from a side road, round the corner and right into the front of the tanker. The tanker hits it's breaks so hard, it's back end skids around to its side. Swiping cars off the road as it does. Within seconds this thing blows to whole hell. A huge fire ball shoots up into the sky, while the tankers contents spill out towards us in a huge wall of fire. I can't stop, I'm going way too fast, stopping will kill us both. "HOLD TIGHT AND DON'T FUCKING LET GO!" I scream back to Mira. Her grip of me was already tightening, I knew she had seen what I had. I know she knew there's only one thing I can to to give us a chance at surviving. With my hands white knuckling the handles of the Devil, I rev a couple of times, lean myself as far forward as I can, feeling Mira following my lead, before I let my beastie free. The devil roars, the tires spinning on the road as we rip our way towards the tanker. My head screaming "LIVE TIFF, LIVE!!" Before I know it we are there. The heat from the fire instantly hits me. But my beastie does what I need it to do, as if the bike has a mind of it's own and it's soul purpose is the get us through this in one piece. I feel the front wheel leave the ground slightly, as we literally rip our way through the middle of that tank. Right through the center of that fire. Out to the other end. My Devil did it, he quite literally rode through hell fire and got us both out, alive.

Adrenaline must have hit me, as we came through the other end I squealed hard. I couldn't believe we actually made it through that. Behind me I can now hear Mira's terrified screams. I can't make out what she's saying, but the thought that I made her scream like that thrills me, making me laugh even harder. "That was fucking awesome!!" I say to myself while I'm slowing my bike and getting myself back into check. Ok stunt done, check, Mira shitting herself, check. Right, time to get us out of here.

In front of me I catch a glimpse of a blue goddess of a car, My heart feels like it's going to leap from my chest. "Layla!" I shout. "They're here!" Relief washes over me as I'm bringing the bike up beside the drivers door and peek in, seeing the window lower to reveal Jim's smiling face. Never have I been more relieved to see this man. He's one of my closest friends, and he's alive! I couldn't even express how glad I was seeing him now. "Glad you're safe!" Is all I could yell down to him while turning my attention back to the road. "Yeah you too Hellion" I faintly hear him yelling back, I couldn't help but smile at that, I actually felt like one right now. "We're headed to Arklay Pass, the bridge is overrun." He yells again. Good, we're on the same path I think to myself, even more relieved now. Turning back towards him to give him a quick nod before turning back to the road, "We saw the roads leading to it packed out, so we're heading to Arklay too." I yell over to him. "You go ahead, we'll catch up to you." He shouts over to me. I turn back to grin over to him, I can just about see Sofia sitting beside him looking over to me. I smile a little in her direction. "We'll see you there, try to keep up." I tell him before I give the devil a rev and head off in front of them.

Our turn is right ahead of us now. I feel Mira grip my waist, I assume telling me this is the turning. With a nod, I bring the bike to the middle of the road and go for it. Nothing is going to stop us getting to the turning. Cars are swerving like these people suddenly forgot how to drive. I have to swerve a few times to avoid colliding with them. Luckily there is nothing coming in the opposite direction, why would they, no one wants to go into that hell. Slowing the bike down a little, I make the turn. With a huge sigh, grateful we made it this far. I catch a glimpse of Jim's car still pretty close while I'm making the turn. We will wait for him at the other end. Hopefully he can get through without anymore hiccups.

Once we get around the bend I suddenly realize what Mira had meant about the road being rough. Even my devil is going to struggle getting up here. The surface looks like one pothole after another. I haven't seen a road so badly kept before. But this was our way out now. I just have to get through as best I can. I slow the bike to around 30, one wrong hit of these holes on my wheels and we are done for. Somehow though I'm managing to get us between other cars and potholes with ease. I'm grateful for that. My Devil has already had itself tested once today, I don't need it going through much more now.
