You’ll see skin, maybe strength.
You’ll see posture, maybe pride.
But you won’t see the truth.
Monday, I had a stroke. My second.
My body betrayed me again— but my spirit didn’t flinch.
You won’t see the heat in my arm, the weakness in my shoulder, the fear that flickered and passed.
You won’t see the blocked artery, the heart that’s been broken and restarted.
You won’t see the kidney disease.
Maybe you won’t see the fight.
But I do. I see me.
And I’m still here.
