Riga, Academy of Sciences

Another of Moscow's gifts to its (re)conquered territories. The Latvian Academy of Sciences was built in the mid-1950s, and follows the same basic design as the Seven Sisters in Moscow, the Palace of Culture in Warsaw and others in Kiev, as well as numerous smaller examples throughout the empire.

Despite the régime that built them, I find them striking and impressive buildings.
