Alte Bibliothek (Berlin)
Die Alte Bibliothek (ehemals: Königliche Bibliothek, umgangssprachlich: Kommode) ist ein Baudenkmal am Bebelplatz 2 im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte und Teil des Forum Fridericianum. Errichtet 1775 bis 1780 im Auftrag von Friedrich dem Großen nach Plänen von Georg Christian Unger im Stil des Barock, wandelte sie sich 1910 zum Universitätsgebäude. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg ausgebrannt, wurde die Alte Bibliothek 1963 bis 1969 wiederaufgebaut. Seitdem beheimatet sie die Juristische Fakultät der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

The Old Library (formerly: Royal Library, colloquially: Commode) is an architectural monument at Bebelplatz 2 in Berlin's Mitte district and part of the Forum Fridericianum. Built from 1775 to 1780 by order of Frederick the Great according to plans by Georg Christian Unger in the Baroque style, it became a university building in 1910. Burned out during World War II, the Old Library was rebuilt from 1963 to 1969. Since then, it has been home to the Faculty of Law of the Humboldt University of Berlin.
