View from my quarters at CAM-5 (Makar Inlet) DEW Line Station

In my estimation, CAM-5 must have been one of the most isolated places on earth to work from. Not a soul in more than 200 kilometres! Temperatures could reach plus 20 C (68 F) in summer and minus 47 C (-52 F) in winter. My colleagues and I resided here for only a few days in August 1978, but for those actually working there for months at a time, well, life must have been pretty lonely. The quarters were comfortable enough and the food was excellent (great cook!). CAM-5 ceased operation in 1992 and was dismantled soon afterwards. From what I can see on Google Earth, not much remains there.
