View from outside Catherine Palace, Pushkin (St. Petersburg), Russia

Before entering the palace, I got a few shots outside. This is the scene just before going through the main gate. Note that it was early morning and there was a light fog. I always like to photograph through fog as it makes the lighting soft and interesting.

 

In this shot, the north wing of the palace is on the right showing also the cupolas above the Palace church. On the left is the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum founded by Alexander I in 1811, where Alexander Pushkin received his early education (see previous).
