Sepia v23n07 (1974-07.Sepia) cover Duke Ellington (Darwin Edit)
Duke Ellington, 1974,
If there was a Mt. Rushmore for jazz, you better believe The Duke's face would be on it.
A mid 70s edition of Sepia out of Fort Worth, TX, a downmarket competitor to Ebony with its own changing flavor over the decades. Perhaps most famous for printing John Howard Griffin's "Black Like Me," Sepia was a mix of sensationalism and sincerity, and, despite being published by a white Texan, a magazine for the black community.
A magazine worthy of digitization for certain, but as far as I can tell, this is the first issue to make it to the Internet Archive.
